World Of Warcraft
World of Warcraft is currently the most popular MMORPG, making up for roughly 62% of the MMORPG world market. Released in 2004, there have already been numerous expansion packs, constant upgrades and new features added in, friendships formed, partnerships lost, thousands of stories and legendary events happening between the 12 million players subscribed to the game. But it’s still only a game and yet it seems to have taken on a life of it’s own. So it must have something to offer that other titles don’t.

Warcraft started out as a strategy game and continued in that form for two more releases, with Warcraft 3 winning numerous awards and a huge fanbase. Then Blizzard decided to take the same elements of the series and place it in a first/third person game and early World of Warcraft was born. The game is spread out over varous Realms which are stored on servers. Players must create and Avatar and can select from 4 different races after choosing which side they are on. The two main sides are Alliance or Horde and there is two races to choose from in each of those. Then the players selects the class of character they are like infantry, mage, priests etc.. Then the player enters a Realm. These are split up into Player Vs Player (PvP), Player Vs Environment (PvE) and Roleplay (RP). Each server has it’s own game type and there is also combinations of the three. For example the PVP servers are more commonly used for players to do battle with each other and the PvE is more about completing quests and battling with world beasts and monsters. The more quests the player completes, the more he can “level up” his or her character. This means that they can equip with new spells, weapons and be more resiliant to hits and have stronger attacks. Communication over chat and microphone with other players allows you to form alliances and friendships with other players and create clans. Read the rest of this entry »
